Production Blog: Selecting Music for Our Opening Sequence
Hello bloggers as you may know me and my group are working on our final task. Today I will be choosing the music for our thriller opening sequence. This was a little challenging as there would be 2 type of music that would be used. For the opening sequence we would have to merge the two types of music effectively. If not done right it would make the whole sequence sound unpleasing. The first type of music we will use is upbeat, comforting, and overall a friendly type of audio. The second type of music that will be used will be creepy, suspenseful, and more uncomfortable than the first song. The combination is used to try to bring out as much emotions as possible from the audience. Due to the diversity of the two types of music trying to merge them will have its difficulties. I have looked at other opening sequences to observe how the transition would happen. I got an idea of how it could work but a lot of the sequences kept the music relatively similar. Most of the opening sequences have sharp music which leaves the viewers on edge. The first idea that was made for the transition from the upbeat music to the suspenseful music was when they were packing up and setting up. The eerie music would start to come as the storm approached and they had to find take shelter. The music would then reach a very loud point when they find what killed the animal and made the loud cries. To add a jump scare I wanted to add a lighting strike that would be very loud. I looked at many types of music and I took inspiration from a lot of the horror theme songs from Universal. The songs seemed all very similar and basic and needed some improvement. The happy music can just be found with some research. Thank you for your time, see ya later bloggers!
